DEPARTMENT OF MOLECULAR BIOLOGY AND IMMUNOLOGY

Function

The Department is responsible for implementation of scientific studies in the biological molecular area including the pathogens of parasite disease and vector-borne disease, immunology and provision of specialized training courses and related issues.

Specific duties

- Develop plans and implement the scientific researches on biological molecular of vector species, parasitic disease pathogens, and vector-borne disease pathogens.

- Collect, culture and preserve the Plasmodium spp. in vitro, and in vivo to service the scientific studies and training.

- Conduct surveillance and detection of components, the variation on pathogens, vectors; monitor the sensitivity of Plasmodium (P. falciparum, P. vivax) to anti-malaria drugs.

- Provide training courses on techniques, skills of molecular, immunology for the local medical staffs and universities in the area.
